Arrival
On foot or by bike
The most pleasant way to reach Runkelstein Castle is on foot or by bike. A stroll of about 30 minutes or a short bike ride will take you from the city centre following the scenic cycle path or footpath which follows the river Talvera.
Schedules Bus Service
It is also possible to reach Runkelstein Castle using scheduled public transport. Departing from Waltherplatz/piazza Walther, the number 12 bus (weekdays) and number 14 bus (weekends and holidays) run to the Jenesien/San Genesio cable car station which is a short walk from the castle.
By private vehicle
If necessary, the castle can be reached by private vehicle following the road to Sarntal/Val Sarentino and taking the right turn before the tunnel. A free unattended carpark can be found at the food of the castle from which point you can continue on foot. The uphill walk takes approximately 10 minutes. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO ARRIVE DIRECTLY AT THE CASTLE ENTRANCE BY PRIVATE VEHICLE.
Attention!
Following arrival at the shuttle bus stop, scheduled service bus stop, or the carpark, it is necessary to continue on foot. The uphill path has a slightly uneven surface and takes 5-10 minutes. We recommend wearing suitable footwear.
Only small dogs are allowed inside the museum. They must be carried in an appropriate carrier. Dogs which cannot be carried are only allowed in the inner courtyard and in the tavern.
